Genotypic characterization of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli strains causing traveler's diarrhea.
This study aims to characterize the presence of virulence factors of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) causing traveler's diarrhea. Among 52 ETEC isolates, the most common toxin type was STh, and the most frequent colonization factors (CFs) were CS21, CS6, and CS3. On the other hand, the nonclassical virulence factors EAST1 and EatA were frequently present.
متن کاملEthnopharmacological Significance of Eclipta alba (L.) Hassk. (Asteraceae)
Eclipta alba can be found growing wild in fallow lands of Bangladesh where it is considered as a weed by farmers. Traditional medicinal systems of the Indian subcontinent countries as well as tribal practitioners consider the plant to have diverse medicinal values and use it commonly for treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory tract disorders (including asthma), fever, hair loss an...
متن کاملSerologic correlates of protection against enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli diarrhea.
BACKGROUND We conducted a nested case-control study in 397 rural Egyptian children <36 months of age to assess the correlation between serum levels of antibodies against toxin and colonization factors (CFs) and the risk of homologous enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) diarrhea. METHODS Active case detection was performed via semiweekly home visits, and blood was obtained at 3-month inter...
متن کاملAntioxidant Activity of Eclipta alba L. in Normal Rat Liver
The present study investigates the antioxidant potential of the ethyl acetate fraction of the aerial parts Eclipta alba L. Hassk (EAEA) which was widely used as hepatoprotective plant. EAEA was orally administered at doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg for 7 days in male Charles Foster rats. The extent of hepatoprotective potential of E . alba was studied by assessing the biochemical para...
متن کاملProduction, Purification and Characterization of Chicken Egg Yolk Monoclonal Antibody Against Colonization factor antigen -1 of Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli Causing Diarrhea
Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) causes diarrhea in both humans and animals. The contaminated food and water are the most common vehicles for ETEC infection. The colonization factor antigen (CFA-1) is a fimbriae protein that promotes adherence of the ETEC strain to the epithelium of the small intestine of the host. In this study IgY proteins were produced against the CFA-1 of ETEC in imm...
